What to eat after 40 years

Woman

Eating healthy means the same for all ages: betting on fruit, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins over other foods. However, while we can combine them at will during our twenties and thirties, when the 40 years changes occur that necessitate a stricter diet.

40-50 years

From the age of 40, hormonal changes usually occur, as well as a slowdown of the metabolism which makes people more prone to weight gain. So people in this age group should eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, which are packed with fiber and nutrients and also low in calories.

Nor should we forget that they are a great source of Antioxidants, which prevent cell damage that causes many diseases, including cancer. When the quarantine is reached, the body must be seen as a piggy bank in which each piece of fruit and vegetables becomes a currency that is added to the others in order to enjoy a better quality of life during old age.

60+

From the age of 60, we must continue with the regular intake of fruit and vegetables, but we must also introduce foods that help to delay the bone loss and muscle and keep energy levels high. Lean protein (fish, beans, soy…) helps support both fronts. It is also important to make sure you get enough calcium, vitamin D, H2O, and stay active.
