The importance of amino acids

Amino acids are substances made up of hydrogen, carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen. They are divided into essentials, which are those that we cannot manufacture and must be incorporated through a diet, and non-essentials that we can manufacture.

They are a necessary element for the physical processes that affect the body such as muscle growth and recovery, energy production, hormone production and proper functioning of the nervous system. Of the 20 common amino acids that make up proteins, 8 cannot be synthesized in the body and have to be incorporated through food.

If you are a person who performs physical activity frequently and dietary regimens to perform better in that activity without the supervision of a nutritionist, you must control that your amino acids are in the appropriate amounts.

Some functions of amino acids:

»Synthesis of immunoproteins.

»Synthesis of structural proteins: collagen, elastin, contractile muscle fibers.

»Source of calories in energy metabolism when other energy sources are insufficient, through gluconeogenesis.

»Synthesis of functional substances such as the heme group of hemoglobin.

»Hormone synthesis: insulin, catecholamines

»Synthesis of active enzymatic proteins: biocatalysts whose existence is a prerequisite for life.

Your information is very good …… .. you forgot an answer:
amino acids are used for the production of non-nitrogenous compounds. I hope it helps something
