Jerez, a longevity secret

Scientists have found that drinking a small amount of sherry a day has similar health benefits to drinking a glass of red wine a day.

Both reduce the amounts of bad cholesterol in the blood (LDL) and increase the amount of good cholesterol, known as (HDL), as corroborated by researchers from the University of Seville in Spain.

However doctors advise that the heart and arteries are better protected by actions such as; quit smoking, exercise regularly, and eat a diet low in saturated fat, rather than relying on just one drink.

Centenarians often have conflicting advice on how to live a long life, as they mostly attribute their longevity to a single personal panacea, but it is always a set of factors that lead to living longer than average, where genetics plays a decisive role as well.
