Flu or cold? Try these great natural remedies

Chicken Soup

Cold and flu season has arrived, and with it the general malaise, cough, mucus ... Luckily, there are natural remedies that relieve cold and flu symptoms and they help us feel better.

Chicken soup is one of the oldest cold remedies. What makes it so effective is that it works on several fronts. On the one hand, it warms and hydrates the body from the inside, which in turn helps to keep the mucous membranes moist and reduce their redness and swelling. In addition, especially if it is homemade, it provides nutrients that the body needs to recover before, such as zinc and iron.

Lemon ginger tea soothes even the strongest sore throat. To prepare it, you will need a medium ginger cut into thin slices, a finely chopped citronella stalk (only the white part) and two tablespoons of honey. Boil the ginger and citronella in a saucepan. When you remove them from the heat, add the honey and stir until it dissolves. Let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes. Before taking it, strain it to remove the traces of citronella and ginger.

Thanks to its microbial properties, turmeric milk can stop the progression of common respiratory infections before they wreak havoc on the immune system. It is an ancient remedy of Indian origin that also helps when we have an upset stomach or feel nauseous. You will need a cup of almond milk (unsweetened), 1/2 teaspoon of ground turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cardamom, and 1 teaspoon of a sweetener of your choice (for example, honey) . Now mix all the ingredients in a jar with a lid and shake well for about two minutes. Remember to pass it through a Chinese strainer before drinking it.
